Oversees the overall sales function for a unit of Advisors through guidance from the Managing Director. Collaborates with the office’s leadership team to ensure Training & Development and Advisor Recruiting processes are followed and the appropriate tracking tools are effectively utilized. Attracts, evaluates, selects and trains new Advisor candidates into productive Advisors (to Honor Club level). Provides ongoing training/development for existing and more experienced Advisors.
Essential Job Functions:
Recruit, train and develop a unit of productive Advisors by creating marketing/prospecting and sales strategies.
Provides ongoing training for each reporting Advisor to include: Activity management, weekly skill-building, Trustworthy Selling coaching and Field Training (demonstration and case design)
Actively participates in the Advisor Recruiting Process by providing Warm-Source candidates, participate in interviews and providing input into the Selection process.
Ensures that only well-trained Advisors are representing the Company to our customers serving as a role model for Mutual of Omaha through leadership and by example, (i.e. participating in professional seminars/workshops, pursuing required professional credentials and industry designations, etc).
Develops a professional sales force and assures Company needs for sales and succession planning are met by implementing effective Unit/Agency recruitment, selection, and retention strategies. Maintain a mentoring and career counseling relationship with contracted Advisors.
Develop and maintain a professional representation of Mutual of Omaha in local community, insurance industry and professional associations; be active in local community and association activities.
Develops and maintains effective professional relationships with Agency Sales Home Office and Field staff, Human Resources, Marketing, Compliance, Underwriting, Customer Service and other support areas to achieve revenue, sales, customer growth, and profit goals for the unit; facilitates the accurate identification and resolution of problems; and participates in and supports Company initiatives
Support the Managing Director in the total management of the division office; remain focused on long-term objectives, make sound business decisions in support of Company goals, and comply with all Company policies, federal and state regulations and industry guidelines. Ensure that the assigned Advisors comply with state, federal, industry and corporate requirements.
If working in a remote office (DSO), may act as Agency’s point of contact for administrative and logistical functions related to that office.
This position may require frequent standing or walking for extended periods of time.
This position requires up to 66% travel, which may include flying and/or driving and some overnight stays.
Minimum Qualifications: In depth knowledge of the insurance industry practices and trends, current sales methodology, business and personnel
management principles and practices, multi-line insurance fundamentals, state and federal regulations
Proven sales skills and the ability to motivate others
Current license with the ability to become licensed with Mutual, United and any required Affiliate Company in the state(s) required for the agency
Registration as an Investment Advisor Representative within the shorter time-frame of 120 days of entry into the position or after three attempts at the Series 65 exam
Ability to travel up to 65% (may include some overnight)
Access to reliable transportation
Detailed product knowledge, with expertise in life, annuity, disability and critical illness insurance products
Strong employee and agent recruiting, selection, training and retention skills
Strong verbal/written communication, human relations and leadership skills
Solid innovative/problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions
Proficiency in applicable software and technology including Microsoft Office and Salesforce
Ability to prepare and implement marketing and prospecting plans

Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems (Gordon-CenSSIS) and ALERT (Awareness and Localization of Explosives-Related Threats), a multi-university Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funded Center of Excellence and is responsible for the three key areas described below. First, the position is responsible for the production, printing and distribution of Center reports, proposals, presentations, brochures, workshop, conference, marketing and other written materials as needed by the Center and its Affiliates. In the course of this work, this position will provide copyediting, formatting, and graphic design support; interface with print vendors; provide inventory management of existing reports, documents, and materials; as well as manage the distribution of these materials as needed by constituents. In addition, this position serves as the communications coordinator for the center. This includes, but is not limited to, providing updates to and copyediting for various components of the Center?s communications portfolio (including web, social media, and newsletter); drafting, editing and developing posts and articles related to Center activities, news, projects and funding opportunities; and interfacing and facilitating center communications with both internal and external media groups. Responsibilities also include serving as the Center?s representative on University, College, and DHS COE Communications Committees ? performing tasks such as executing communication directives and informing the committees of Center activities, successes, and news. This role is also responsible for updating the DHS University Programs personnel with monthly communications updates, and providing annual and periodic project reporting deliverables and Center information as requested. Finally, the position will provide general administrative support for the Center and its affiliates. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with development and management of Center webinar participation, coverage of the front office activities and tasks (including but not limited to, working at the front desk, making equipment and room reservations, equipment and office supply orders) as needed, and supervision of work-study students who provide office support. In all three of these key areas, the incumbent will develop external communication emails to various communities within the Center and its Affiliates in order to successfully disseminate and produce the documents and outreach vehicles mentioned in each area. Qualifications The minimum level of qualification for success in this job would be a BA/BS degree with one or more years of related experience in report writing and copy-editing, and administrative office support, preferably in a fast-paced environment requiring use and proper handling of high level and confidential information. The incumbent must also have at least one year of related experience working with social media content development and dissemination. The incumbent must be a self-motivated individual who can anticipate problems and demonstrate significant independent judgment. Detail-orientation and a high-level of attention to accuracy and completeness are required. Must have a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at various levels, both internal and external to NU.
